R Lalique, France -serre Livres Coq Houdan- Glass Cockerel Mascot Bookends No. 1161

'Serre Livres Coq Houdan'

René Lalique (1860-1945), ‘Serre Livres Coq Houdan’, pair of proud cockerel mascot bookends No. 1161, introduced on 30.4.1929. Clear and frosted finish, mounted on factory chrome retaining rings and black glass bases.
Reference: Marcihac no.1161, p.511. Weiner p.49.
Etched marks ‘R Lalique’ and ‘France’ in uppercase lettering around the foot of each cockerel, black bases also signed ‘R Lalique, France’ in uppercase etching.
Measure 22cm high and are in very good overall condition. One with a minute bruise to the tail feather and the other to wing, both only approx. 1mm. Typical surface blemishes and pitting to chrome mounts as conducive through age and use. Some repolishing to the corners of the black bases.
