Titanic (1997) 'White Star Line' Original Crew Jumper Uniform Costume Prop

'White Star Line' Jumper Costume

Titanic (1997) - R.M.S. Titanic ‘White Star Line’ crewman’s knitted navy-blue jumper with reversed logo, from the James Cameron film epic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
Members of the Titanic crew wore their uniforms throughout the film, most notably as the ship begins to sink.
Background: Due to the large number of extras required, actors were ‘doubled-up’ throughout filming. Cameron’s RMS Titanic was built on the starboard side and therefore shots showing the port side of the ship had to be mirrored to appear correctly on screen. The front of this jumper therefore reads 'White Star Line' printed backwards.
Provenance: Bonham’s, Entertainment &Memorabilia, 16th June 2009, lot 143.
Signs of intentional distressing, with general wear, holes and discolouration throughout.
