Who is Sheree Valentine-Daines?
Sheree Valentine-Daines is a British modern impressionist painter with more than 35 years of practice. Renowned for her striking figurative portraits, seaside scenes, and depictions of quintessential British summer events like Royal Ascot and the Henley Regatta.
Early life and education - how she came to art
Valentine-Daines was born in 1959 in Surrey. Her father was a sculptor and stonemason, introducing her to artistry at a young age. After beginning a career as a legal secretary, she was drawn back to painting and enrolled at the Epsom School of Art aged 20. She began to develop her distinctive style, progressing in figurative work whilst concentrating on light and shading, establishing herself as a skilful impressionist artist.
After graduating, Sheree moved to Cornwall where she spent countless hours paintings the beautiful countryside and beaches. Having borrowed money to fund her first exhibition at a local school, she received several commissions and sold out of all her works. Valentine-Daines’ success led her to quit her job within the jewellery industry and pursue art full-time.
Artistic style
