An antique English 48-key ‘System’ concertina in fitted case bearing retail label for C Wheatstone and Co. Having referred to the Concertina Museum, the maker of the concertina is believed to be F C Nickolds (formerly of C Wheatstone and Co.) – the fretwork design on the casing is seemingly different to Wheatstone’s style.
The concertina is generally in good condition with wear and patina as conducive through age and use. Very fine cracks present to veneer, spots of degrading to leather bellows and some of the screws on the casing are lacking washers. Age related wear and tear to case to include broken handle.
Please refer to illustrations to make your own analysis of condition and contents.
Has been tested basically and all buttons make a sound when pressed and bellows opened and released.
