Antiques and Collectibles – Trends to Watch Out For in 2021

Antiques & Collectibles

Antiques and collectibles come in all shapes and sizes, and you may not even realise that some pieces are actually collectable. In 2021 our perception of antiques and collectibles is expected to change. With lockdown, and all of us being stuck inside, many are rooting through their lofts to chuck things out. There is expected to be a surge in antiques into the market, and not just things such as furniture or clocks.

Here’s some rough ideas of what you could be seeing more of this year:

Contemporary Art

This is a more common section of collectibles and it can be extremely valuable if the piece is rare or by a famous artist. In 2021 there is expected to be an increase in sales of antique art. This is due to the public wanting to redecorate over the lockdown period. Many of us have sat at home and realised that we don’t like the way our home looks. Contemporary art is a great way to add some colour and character to any room.

Mini Cooper Sport 500

Classic Cars

This is an antique that can really be a treasure for any collector. It doesn’t just sit on your wall or table, you can use it! These can vary in price and quality depending on age and condition. Anything from original minis to barn finds, an antique vehicle can take many forms. We have just started a venture for classic cars, if you are interested in purchasing or selling your classic car, get in touch now or browse our current stock.

Garden Seat stone

Gardenalia

This broad spectrum of antiques isn’t common for most first time antique buyers. It can be a very valuable section of the antiques and collectibles sphere. Involving anything from plant pots to bird tables, watering cans and farming equipment. It comes in all shapes and sizes and can range from a few pounds to a lot more. With more people being home over lockdown, this trend is expected to pick up with more people attempting to garden and spruce up their home. So if you have found some Gardenalia that you would like to get a quote for, get in touch and we would be happy to help.
